We’re proud to announce that RUI3, our SDK specifically designed for IoT scenarios, is now open source. Created to address the limitations of popular platforms like Arduino, RUI3 offers enhanced connectivity support and power consumption optimization.

We started from the chip level, focusing on minimizing power consumption. The result? A power consumption below 2uA, extending the battery life of sensor devices up to 5 years.

Transitioning to RUI3 from Arduino is seamless. We maintained API format consistency, meaning application codes written for Arduino BSP can be loaded directly with RUI3 BSP. RUI3 also includes over 120 APIs, offering multiple IoT connectivity options, sensor optimization, and low power consumption.

We’ve achieved our goal of creating an SDK born for IoT. But we’re not stopping there. We believe in the power of community and collaborative innovation — “人多力量大” (more people, greater strength). That’s why we’re making RUI3 open source.

Quality won’t be compromised by this decision. RAKwireless will remain an active contributor, providing support through the Issues list in the BSP repos, HelpDesk, and forum. All BSP releases will undergo the same rigorous testing procedures as before.

While warranties have limitations, we assure you that we will uphold the quality of any finished product running RUI3.
